Pioneer Ridge and Jasper Place continue to have in place all of the necessary health and safety precautions set out by the Ministry of Health, Chief Medical Office of Health, & Public Health Unit to ensure that visits may be done in a safe manner to keep residents, tenants, families and staff safe.

Jasper Place is an accredited facility of Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada. Jasper Place, located at 1200 Jasper Drive, is a 100 unit seniors' supportive housing building which is owned by The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board (DSSAB) and has a twenty four hour on-site Support Services Program supported by the City of Thunder Bay.

Support staff

  • Support workers provide non-medical care. Our staff is trained in first aid and emergency procedures
  • Support staff do not provide services such as nursing or physiotherapy. When services are needed please contact the North West Local Health Integration Network System, physician referral or a community support agency of the tenant's choice. A Nurse Practitioner available on site through the Nurse Lead Outreach Team (Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre)

Program support fees

Program Support fees are separate from rent and is payable to the City of Thunder Bay Support Services Program. For more information on rent please contact Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board.

  • Single occupancy, $11.90/day
  • Double occupancy, $18.00/day
  • Tenant  additional meals $6.30/meal

The support services fee for each tenant includes:

  • emergency call system in each apartment
  • 24 hour on-site staff to respond to emergency situations
  • 15 noon meals per month per tenant served in the dining room
  • a system of daily checks if needed
  • social and recreational activities
  • homemaking services
  • personal support
  • hygiene support
  • medication monitoring
  • meal support
  • light housekeeping and laundry when available
  • assistance with mobility

If you would like an application to move into Jasper Place please contact: DSSAB, 231 May St S. Thunder Bay, ON P7E 1B5 or phone at 807 766-2111. Once forms are received, DSSAB will look at the application and the applicant will be placed on the wait list.

Criteria for eligibility

In order to be considered for the Support Services Program the applicant must be:

  • 65 years of age or older
  • able to live independently in an apartment
  • perform activities of daily living
  • agree with non-smoking legislation

The Support services Program cannot offer support for seniors with:

  • history of alcohol and drug abuse causing a risk to self and others
  • active psychological or emotional problems resulting in behaviour which causes a risk to self or others
  • total assistance due to bladder or bowel incontinence
  • physical lifting or transferring in order to perform activities of daily living
  • health problems requiring close professional supervision
  • cognitive impairment resulting in inability to direct others to meet support needs or inability to meet their personal safety/security needs (due to minimal staffing and lack of appropriate locked exits and door alarms throughout building)
