Pioneer Ridge & Jasper Place:

As directed by Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer, and to ensure the safety of residents, and Pioneer Ridge is not allowing any visitors to the facility at this time. Arrangemetns can be made for FaceTime or window visits by calling Pioneer Ridge at 684-3956 or Jasper Place at 684-2928.

We discourage items coming in and out of the buildings; only essential items for the health & well-being of our tenants and residents can be picked-up or dropped off. Contact Pioneer Ridge: 630-5253 or Jasper Place: 684-2990 to make arrangements. 

Staff are working very hard providing quality care for our residents. This may affect their ability to answer the phone during peak times. Please avoid calling the home areas unless it is an emergency. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct these to the Business Office: 684-3910, or Administrator Office: 684-3917.

Community call-out for caring cards and penpals to warm the hearts of seniors currently feeling isolated due to COVID-19 visitor restrictions:

Pioneer Ridge Long Term Care and Seniors Services welcomes letters and cards from the public to brighten residents’ rooms and spirits. Handwritten letters or emails can be sent via the Letters to Residents program, while Caring Cards welcomes cards from the public, along with writing and drawings from grandchildren and school-aged children.

To take part, people are asked to address their letter or card with ‘Dear Resident’ and include an email or return mailing address. Therapeutic Recreation and Volunteer Services team will review the letters and match the pen pal with a resident.

  • Two therapeutic parks enclosed in a secure area for enjoying the outdoors with access from the first level 
  • A link to Jasper Place Supportive Housing complex through an enclosed access hall from the Upper Home Area
  • 45 space junior day care centre (operated by the City of Thunder Bay)
  • Four resident care floors
  • Hair care area for men & women
  • Restorative care/rehabilitation area equipped to help you maintain or improve functional abilities
  • Coffee shop for visitors
  • Auditorium
  • MSE Snoezelen Room on Home Area 1 (accessible for all residents)

Pioneer Ridge BPSO spotlight organization

With its goal to continue to expand on its quality improvement journey, Pioneer Ridge sought the opportunity to partner with RNAO in the LTC-BPSO program by submitting a proposal to become a Best Practice Spotlight Organization candidate in December 2014. Pioneer Ridge was successful, beginning its candidacy in April 2015. In April 2018 after 3 years of hard work and dedication, Pioneer Ridge completed all requirements and proudly attained designation as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization. Through this partnership with RNAO, Pioneer Ridge will continue to promote quality resident care by integrating evidence-based practices.
