COVID-19 vaccination requirement – Pioneer Ridge
As per Ministry directive, the Corporation is mandated to ensure that all new employees within our Pioneer Ridge Division are fully vaccinated before they begin working. The only exception to this directive is a medical exemption.
Proof of vaccination
Staff, support workers, students and volunteers must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccine administration that satisfies one of the following:
- the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada, or any combination of such vaccines, or
- two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Health Canada
For people who were vaccinated in Ontario, the physical/hard copy receipt and/or email receipt, provided by the Ministry of Health at the time of vaccination is acceptable proof of vaccination. Individuals who misplace their receipt can obtain a replacement copy by logging into the provincial vaccine portal. People who received some or all of their vaccine doses out of province can contact their local public health unit about obtaining proper documentation, per MOH’s COVID-19 Guidance for Individuals Vaccinated outside of Ontario/Canada.
TB skin testing requirement
Candidates who are offered a job within our Pioneer Ridge Long-term Care Home and Jasper Place are required to provide proof of having undergone:
- A "two-step" Mantoux TB skin test at some previous point in time, and a regular "one-step" TB skin test within the past 12 months, or
- A "two-step" Mantoux TB skin test in the past 12 months.
Getting tested for TB
You may be able to obtain TB skin testing through your family doctor or a public clinic. You will be responsible for all costs related with either obtaining TB skin testing or for any costs associated with the diagnosis and treatment of TB identified through skin testing.

TB test results
A negative skin test indicates that you are free from TB.
A positive skin test means that at some point you have been exposed to TB. It does not necessarily mean that you have active TB. Additional testing will be necessary prior to starting work.

You will be required to submit a digital certificate (by email) or paper certificate indicating the date of the test and the result, to the Human Resources Division at 125 Syndicate Ave. S., Thunder Bay. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
