Council Approves Waiving All Municipal Fees for Outdoor Patios

A report recommending ways that the City can help restaurants and retailers set up outdoor patios or displays was approved by City Council last night, including waiving permit fees and specific zoning enforcement, and expediting the process for owners.

Building Owners Reminded of Water Safety When Re-Opening

As the Province enters Stage 2 of its reopening plan, the City wants to remind building owners and operators to maintain water safety when reopening. While the City is responsible to provide clean, safe drinking water to each building, it is the responsibility of each building owner to ensure it maintains the safety of the water within their building.

When buildings are closed or have low occupancy for a prolonged period of time, water in the building becomes stagnant and can pose serious health risks....

MECG Discusses Public Safety as Thunder Bay Starts to Reopen

The Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) met today with various community partners as Thunder Bay starts to gradually reopen.

Officials remind residents to maintain precautions against the spread of COVID-19 including regular hand washing, keeping a distance of two metres from others, and wearing a cloth mask when physical distancing is not possible such as when shopping or on a bus.

The City of Thunder Bay is investing $18 million in 2020, on road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sanitary and storm sewers, watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work, and streetlight renewal.

Road work can result in road closures, detours and delays for drivers. All residents are reminded to reduce their speed, be alert, watch for workers and drive with extra care in construction zones.
