Heritage Advisory Committee Urges Preservation of Hoito’s Heritage

Thunder Bay’s Heritage Advisory Committee (HAC) is urging the Board for the Finlandia Association of Thunder Bay to consider the retention and long term protection of artifacts contained within the Finnish Labour Temple property, 314 Bay Street. HAC urges the Board to ensure preservation of these artifacts as part of its inherent duty towards the protection of the history of the Finnish Labour Temple and the organizations within it, as well as the Finnish-Canadian culture within the region.

On May 19, the province officially entered the first stage of its ‘Framework for Reopening the Province’, and announced that it amended Ontario Regulation 104/20 made under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act - Closure of Outdoor Recreational Amenities.

These amendments will soon allow the opening of the following amenities:

Section of Balmoral Street to Undergo Road Construction

A section of Balmoral Street, between Hewitson Street and Alloy Drive, will undergo road reconstruction and storm sewer installation starting on Tuesday, May 19. 

A full closure of Balmoral Street, between Hewitson Street and the Harbour Expressway, will be conducted at the start of the construction and will last approximately 10 days.
