Municipal Emergency Control Group Collaborates on COVID-19

The Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) held its weekly virtual meeting today with various community partners as part of its ongoing management of the COVID-19 situation.

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to host virtual programming this year in celebration of National Youth Week and Youth Arts Week from May 1 to May 7. Road Construction to Close Section of James Street South

Starting on Monday, May 4, construction will begin on James Street South, between Gore Street and Kingston Street. Construction will include repairs to storm sewer and concrete sidewalk. Work is expected to take approximately nine weeks to complete. 

Traffic heading north-south will be directed to take Mountdale Avenue, using Gore Street and Montreal Street.

Those travelling near the construction zone are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage.

COVID-19: Emergency funding approved for non-profit groups

City Council voted unanimously to provide COVID-19 Pandemic emergency relief funding to four organizations currently funded through the Community, Youth & Cultural Funding Program.

A total of $168,300 was approved in Phase I of the Community, Youth & Cultural Funding Program Emergency Fund, which prioritized critical and essential services related to food and shelter. Section of River Street to Close for Sewer and Water Work

A section of River Street, between Balsam Street and Elm Street, will be closed starting on Wednesday, April 29, to allow for new essential sewer and water infrastructure to be installed. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, May 1, at 8 pm.  

Local residential traffic will be permitted.
