Thunder Bay Fire Rescue COVID-19 Update

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent social distancing policies, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue would like to communicate to the public the adjustments in which we will be operating.

First and foremost emergency response has not changed.  All of our Fire Stations are staffed and able to respond to any emergencies that the community might face. Our Fire Fighters will be instituting enhanced personal protective equipment protocols and procedures such as:

COVID-19: Only Critical Construction Projects to Continue

Following the announcement from the Ontario government that the list of businesses classified as essential will be reduced further, the City’s Development & Emergency Services Department will only be performing inspections on essential construction projects listed in the Emergency Order below.

For now, permit applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed so the City is able to facilitate construction once the orders are lifted.

Ontario Government Program Continues to Move Forward, 15 Grants for Local Entrepreneurs

The Thunder Bay & District Entrepreneur Centre (EC) is pleased to announce the successful entrepreneurs who will receive a $5,000 grant through the 2020 Starter Company Plus program. The 2020 Starter Company Plus program, originally known as the Starter Company, is in its 6th year of operation and has been helping local entrepreneurs start up, expand, or buy their business.

City Council Will Not Meet April 6

Meetings that were scheduled for Monday, April 6 for Committee of the Whole and City Council are cancelled. There are no decisions requiring immediate approval from Council at this time.

The next regular scheduled meeting is on Monday, April 20 and will proceed as scheduled.

Waste Collection Changes for Easter

Curbside waste collection dates, city wide, will change next week due to Good Friday.

Garbage and recycling collection will move one day earlier next week, starting on April 6, for all residents. There will be no collection on Good Friday.

The following are the Easter holiday waste collection changes:
