COVID-19: Council Meets Tonight by Teleconference

In response to the Provincial Order prohibiting organized gatherings of more than five people, tonight’s Open Session of Committee of the Whole will be conducted largely by electronic participation.

Only the Chairs of Committee of the Whole and Council (Councillor Mark Bentz and Mayor Bill Mauro) will attend in person together with City Clerk Krista Power and City Manager Norm Gale and one other person for technical support. Councillors and other members of Administration will join by phone.

COVID-19: Transit May See Interruptions, Playgrounds Closed

As the City continues to respond to COVID-19, it is becoming increasingly difficult to provide some public facing services such as Transit.

Transit Seeking Approval to Move to Holiday Service
Thunder Bay Transit is seeking approval from Council’s Committee of the Whole on Monday, to begin operating on a reduced Sunday/Holiday service schedule seven days a week beginning on April 1. All routes would be reduced to 45-minute service frequency and would operate from approximately 8 am – 11 pm.

COVID-19: Non-Essential Services Cease

COVID-19: Update on City Services, Waterfront Terminal Building Closes

As the City continues to respond to COVID-19, the Waterfront Transit Terminal building is now closed to the public, but riders are still able to make connections and transfer buses at the terminal platform.

Calendar Parking Regulations Come to an End for the Season

The Parking Authority announced today that, effective immediately, Calendar Parking regulations are waived.

Based on the warm weather predicted in the short-range forecast the decision was made to end Calendar Parking restrictions as of today.

We remind motorists that some streets may still have snowbanks and to be cautious when parking to ensure there is enough space for emergency vehicle access.
