COVID-19: Canada Day, Live on the Waterfront to be Virtual

In response to Provincial orders and physical distancing mandates, the City’s Canada Day celebrations and Live on the Waterfront programming will be delivered virtually this summer.
With the public’s safety being top priority, event staff are planning innovative ways of delivering events without encouraging the large gatherings that typically occur with events of this scale.

COVID-19: Province to Allow Golf Courses and Marinas to Prepare

The Ontario government announced Friday that golf courses and marinas may prepare for the upcoming season under strict safety guidelines, but not open to the public until the Province lifts restrictions on public access.
The City will consider its operational procedures, continue ongoing maintenance, and await further notice from the Province, following which a determination would be made regarding openings.

The City of Thunder Bay has developed an Employee Spotlight Series to highlight employees providing essential services during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

Boulevard Lake Dam Rehabilitation to Begin May 4

The Boulevard Lake Dam rehabilitation is set to begin on Monday, May 4, with the project expected to be completed by the end of 2021. The Boulevard Lake Dam Walkway will be closed for the duration of the project.
Starting at the end of June, water levels in Boulevard Lake will be lowered to install cofferdams needed to complete the work. As a result, summer activities including swimming, canoeing and kayaking will be suspended this summer.
