Centennial Park Parking Lot Closed on June 23

June 19, 2015 - The Centennial Park parking lot will be closed to the public on Tuesday, June 23.

The closure is expected to be in effect from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Workers will be on-site insulating the water service that runs to the park's maintenance shop; the water line runs directly under the entrance to the parking lot.

Residents are asked not to visit Centennial Park until the work is complete.

Floodway Walking Trail Closing due to Dredging

June 19, 2015 - The walking trail on the north side of the Neebing-McIntyre Floodway from Island Drive east to the lakeshore will close to the public as of Wednesday, June 25 while the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) dredges the floodway.

The LRCA, which is responsible for dredging the floodway and owns the property on either bank, has indicated the fill will need to be stored on the trail until it's hauled away in the fall.

2015 Road Work Season Continues

June 18, 2015 – The road work season in Thunder Bay is now underway. Projects to be undertaken in 2015 include road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sewer and watermain repair/replacement, bridge work and streetlight renewal.

The City of Thunder Bay is investing $40 million on these improvements and related infrastructure, including $380,000 in the Enhanced Infrastructure Renewal Program Capital Budget in 2015.

Fire Suppression Efforts Continue at Great West Timber Site

June 18, 2015 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue (TBFR) crews are continuing suppression efforts at the Great West Timber site fire. Two pumpers remain at the scene. There are no injuries to be reported at this time. It is anticipated suppression efforts will continue today and could take as long as Friday to fully suppress hot spots and secure the site.
