Fire Safety Hockey Cards at Friday's Thunderwolves Game

January 28, 2016 -Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, the Lakehead University Thunderwolves and Tbaytel have again partnered to release limited-edition collector cards of this year's varsity hockey team that highlight fire safety messaging.
"Home fire safety is one of our top priorities," said Fire Chief John Hay "This project allows us to get that message across to Thunder Bay's young hockey fans and promote fire prevention in a unique way."

GM Resigns: Community Services Department in Good Hands During Transition

January 27, 2016 - Michael Smith has given notice that he is resigning as General Manager of Community Services for the City of Thunder Bay.
"Mr. Smith has indicated he is accepting another position and is relocating to Southern Ontario," City Manager Norm Gale said today. "I have received and accepted his resignation. He expressed his thanks to Council and staff and wished the City of Thunder Bay continued success in the future."
Mr. Smith joined the City of Thunder Bay in 2011.

Corrosion Control Pilot Study Commences Jan. 28

January 26, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay will begin the next phase of the Corrosion Control Pilot Study in the Hodder Pressure Zone supplying parts of the Current River area on January 28.
The study, endorsed by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and approved by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will measure the effectiveness of reducing lead levels at the tap, by adjusting the chemistry of the treated water via the addition of sodium hydroxide - a pH buffering agent.

January 21, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay will be hosting a new Pre-Budget Session where the public is invited to ask questions and discuss what the proposed Budget means in an informal setting prior to Council's detailed review.

Multi Vehicle Collision on Highway 61

January 19, 2016 - Superior North EMS responded to a three vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 61 at the Kam River Bridge.
Four ambulances and one Paramedic Response Unit responded. On scene a total of seven patients were assessed, treated and transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Science Centre. The injuries ranged from minor to moderate in nature.
