City Council adopted Official Plan Amendment No. 13 and passed By-law 205-2024, a Zoning By-law Amendment at 1191 Balsam Street, on the 17th day of June 2024.
The Official Plan Amendment is exempt from approval by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and the decision of Council is final if a notice of appeal is not received before or on the last day for filing a notice of appeal, July 11, 2024.

‘Let’s Build Thunder Bay’ banner unveiled at City Hall

Mayor Ken Boshcoff, along with members of the Mayor’s Task Force on Building More Homes, unveiled a banner today at City Hall that will launch the city’s “Let’s Build Thunder Bay’ campaign as part of the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF).
The City of Thunder Bay was approved for up to $20.7 million dollars in federal funding from the HAF in February 2024 to support development of over 600 new housing units over the next three years, to reach a total of 1,691 new permitted homes by February 2027.

The City of Thunder Bay will open its splash pads in three phases over the coming days, offering free family fun and relief from summer temperatures in neighbourhoods across the city.

Treasure Exchange Days Coming June 15 & 16

The City’s twice-yearly Treasure Exchange Days event will take place this coming weekend on June 15 and 16. Residents with used items in good condition that they wish to give away may leave them on the curb any time after 5 pm on Friday, June 14, labelled “free.” Residents can then tour their neighbourhoods over the weekend to find treasures.
