Facts about the United Way

All money contributed to the United Way ‘Community Fund’ stays in Thunder Bay to meet vital needs. The United Way fund-raising effort is driven by close to 1,000 volunteers.

The Community Fund

The Community Fund brings together the people and resources necessary to create lasting change and to help: children as they grow, youth to build a positive future, adults seeking independence, individuals with disabilities or health concerns, families coping with a crisis or hard times, neighbourhoods to become stronger and more caring.

One in three families are assisted each year through programs and services funded by donations to the United Way. United Way helps your family, your neighbours, and your co-workers.

The United Way is working collaboratively with other funders and local organizations in order bring community resources together and to facilitate opportunities for youth, and for neighbourhood engagement. Over 280 United Way employee campaigns are conducted, raising over half of the overall campaign dollars.

“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
