The biggest challenge in transitioning to a sustainable community is the removal of barriers that prevent sustainable behaviour. Education and the building of community relationships are key to this transformation. EarthCare understands the importance of education of the sustainability plan.

Through municipal leadership and community involvement, we envision the City of Thunder Bay becoming a role model in sustainability for the rest of Northwestern Ontario.

Various stakeholders within the community must share the responsibility to educate, along with the City to lead by example. The stakeholders include school boards, the college, the university, non-government organizations, government institutions, business, industry, and the media.
