Looking for a beach or splash pad for the family during the hot weather? There are many options for everyone to cool off in the summer months across Thunder Bay. You can also visit one of the local outdoor swimming pools for more swimming options.
Beaches
Lakes are a great, free way to cool off during the warm summer months. However, lakes can contain bacteria which may make swimming unsafe for residents. Regular water quality checks are done to ensure swimming is safe. Please check the Thunder Bay District Health Unit website for the most up-to-date water quality status of this swimming area.

Splash pads
Splash pads are a great way to cool off and get exercise in the summer months and are free to people of all ages.
The splash pads at County Park, Franklin Street, and North End are now open for the season.
Operation of the splash pads must be in accordance with Provincial COVID-19 guidelines, which include limiting the number of users on the splash pad to allow for physical distancing, hourly sanitizing of common touch points, and hand sanitization prior to use.
Users of the splash pads and surrounding Parks space are responsible for following the guidelines, including physical distancing and group size restrictions. Rules of operation will be clearly posted at the sites, and staff will be available to provide direction and clarification.
