UPDATE - Changes to Council and Ward Meeting In-Person Limits

On Friday, Sept. 25, the Provincial Government further updated Ontario Regulation 364/20 as it pertains to gathering limits. 

The previously announced reduced gathering limits (no more than 10 persons) have been amended to apply only to places that are defined as private dwellings and residential buildings.

This means that City Council meetings will no longer be limited to only 10 people. This change also affects ward/town hall meetings and allows up to 50 people to attend where capacity to allow...

Nominations Open for Mayor’s Community Safety Awards

The Thunder Bay Crime Prevention Council is calling for nominations for the 10th Annual Mayor’s Community Safety Awards, which recognize Thunder Bay residents and groups who are working to make our city safer and more inclusive.

Nominations are now open, and the deadline for submissions is Oct. 9 at 4:30 pm.

The awards will be presented during a special ceremony that will take place during the Nov. 2 meeting of Thunder Bay City Council.

Pride Crosswalks Scheduled for Completion This Week

Installation of Pride crosswalks continues at two intersections: the first at the intersection of Donald Street and May Street, and the second at the intersection of Bay Street and Algoma Street.

The crosswalk painting has necessitated partial road closures at each location.

Safety Decals Installed at CN Rail Trail Crossing for Rail Safety Week

City workers installed eye-catching “Look. Listen. Live.” safety decals today at the point where CN Rail tracks cross the multi-use trail beside the Neebing Floodway. The decals will enhance the safety of trail users by reminding them to check for approaching trains at the rail crossing.
