The Thunder Bay Drug Strategy and partners commemorated International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) with numerous activities dedicated to raising awareness of overdose and reducing the stigma of drug-related death. IOAD is a day to acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends of those who have died or suffered permanent injury because of an overdose.

Storm Sewer Installation on Waterloo Street Starts Tuesday

Waterloo Street will be closed to through traffic in both directions between Arthur Street and Victoria Avenue from Tuesday, Sept. 1 to Friday, Sept. 4, for storm sewer installation. Access will be allowed for local traffic only.

Motorists are asked to drive with caution while construction proceeds.

Mayor's Mulligan Returns in New Format to Support PRO Kids

The 16th Annual Mayor’s Mulligan will run as a special Putting Edition this year in support of PRO Kids. The annual event, which has cumulatively raised $208,500 to date, will be offered in a different format to accommodate the current COVID-19 climate.

Two City Splash Pads to Remain Open until Labour Day

 To allow children to take full advantage of the mild summer weather and delayed school start, two of the City’s splash pads, at the North End Recreation Centre and at Franklin Park, will remain open up to and including Labour Day, Sept. 7. In addition, the County Park splash pad will operate until Sunday, Aug. 30, at which time it will close for the end of summer.
