One Extra Item of Garbage Allowed Next Week

The City will allow residents to put out a third item of garbage with no tag on the first collection date after Labour Day.
Residents are reminded to reduce waste. Reducing waste saves energy, time, money and valuable natural resources. Small changes to reduce waste in our everyday lives produce many beneficial results.

School Crossing Guards Share Safety Tips as School Year Begins

City of Thunder Bay’s School Crossing Guards are encouraging students to walk and cycle to school, while maintaining physical distancing. Parents and students may consult the City’s Crossing Guards webpage at thunderbay.ca/crossingguards for a list and map of School Crossing Guard locations.
Students are asked to maintain physical distancing from the School Crossing Guards (when it is safe to do so) while waiting to cross the street.

City’s 10th Pedestrian Crossover Opens Tomorrow

On Friday, Sept. 4 at 11 am, a new Pedestrian crossover will activate at the corner of John Street and Marlborough Street in advance of schools reopening. This is the 10th pedestrian crossover in the City, and the first in 2020. Three more pedestrian crossovers will be installed this year at Pioneer Drive and Wyndale Street, Court Street and McVicar Street, and Neebing Avenue and Mary Street.

COVID-19: 55 Plus Centre to reopen, youth program registration to begin

The Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre will reopen its doors to the public on Sept. 14, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Registered programs and classes are scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 21.
To help mitigate the risk of COVID-19, masks will be required to enter the building and must be worn in all public areas, but may be removed for fitness classes once in the space.
