City Archives Celebrates Women’s History

Do you know a woman whose role in Thunder Bay’s history should be celebrated? The City Archives is now accepting nominations to their Women’s History Month exhibit. The exhibit was launched in 2013 to celebrate women who have made a contribution to Thunder Bay’s history. New profiles of women are added to the exhibit during Women’s History Month in October.

Central Avenue Water Fill Station Temporarily Closing

The Central Avenue Water Fill Station, west of Amber Drive, for commercial customers, will be closing temporarily starting on Thursday, May 9, due to construction.

A temporary station will be located on Innovation Drive, between Central Avenue and Capital Way.

Construction at the Central Avenue Water Fill Station is expected to take approximately one week.

Hazelwood Drive Vehicle Fire Sends One to Hospital

Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue (TBFR) responded to a report of a “loader on fire” on Hazelwood Dr.    

A large plume of smoke could be seen by responding crews from several miles away. The first due   pumper officer requested additional pumper units to respond also.

Upon arrival initial fire crews encountered the engine compartment of a loader excavator involved with flame and heavy black smoke. The vehicle fire did not threaten adjacent buildings however there were other vehicles...

Thunder Bay residents will take to the streets this weekend to participate in Thunder Bay’s 9th Annual Jane’s Walk Festival. Youth Arts Week Activities Announced

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to host a Youth Arts Showcase, presented by Ontario Power Generation, in celebration of National Youth Arts Week, which occurs together with National Youth Week May 1 - 7 every year.
