Public Invited to Open House for Thunder Bay Police Facility Review

As part of the Thunder Bay Police Facility Review, a public open house will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 4 – 7 pm, in City Hall Lobby, 500 Donald St. E. Information will be presented through opening remarks and visual displays, and citizens will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide their input. Nearly 50 grade seven to 10 male students from Lakehead Public Schools throughout the city are attending the Engaging Male Students to Reduce and Prevent Gender-Based Violence workshop today aimed at preventing gender-based violence against women and girls. Residents of Bearskin Lake First Nation that were evacuated to Thunder Bay recently due to flooding in their home community are beginning to return home today.

The City would like to remind residents not to place waste and recycling bags or cans on snowbanks during collection days.

“Waste on snowbanks poses a danger to both residents and waste collection crews,” said Jason Sherband, Manager – Solid Waste & Recycling Services. “Crews are not permitted to climb snowbanks to retrieve items.”
