Students Present Projects to Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee

Students and teachers from six Thunder Bay secondary schools presented their greening and beautification projects today to the City of Thunder Bay’s Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery. Each high school received $1,000 through the 2017 – 2018 Green & Beautiful School Grant Program to take part in a “Green and Beautiful” project. They submitted proposals to the Committee with ideas from their school.

Treasure Exchange Days Return this Weekend

The City of Thunder Bay’s popular Treasure Exchange Days return on June 23 and 24, giving residents a chance to discover one-of-a-kind treasures while reducing waste.

Anyone wishing to give away gently used items can leave them out on the curb any time after 5 pm, on Friday, June 22. Clearly label the items FREE. Over the weekend, residents are encouraged to tour their neighbourhoods to see what treasures they can find.

City Announces 2018 Canada Day Festivities

The City of Thunder Bay is delighted to announce its upcoming Canada Day festivities, scheduled for Sunday, July 1 at Marina Park.

With past attendance estimated at over 20,000, Canada Day remains Thunder Bay’s largest annual single-day event. Festivities begin at 5 pm, with entertainment and activities for people of all ages.

Section of Victoria Avenue to Close to Westbound Traffic

A section of Victoria Avenue, between Lillie Street and Waterloo Street, will be closed to westbound traffic due to asphalt resurfacing.  

Construction will begin on Tuesday, June 19 and is expected to take up to two weeks to complete.

Delaney Arena and Fort William Stadium parking lot can be accessed by following the posted detour route at Brunswick Street and Legion Track Drive.

Motorists are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage when travelling near the construction area.
