Section of Central Avenue to Close Nov. 20 for Water Main Work

November 16, 2016 - On Sunday, Nov. 20, Central Avenue between Balmoral Street and Alloy Drive will be closed for water main work at Tungsten Street and Central Avenue. The closure is expected between the hours of 8 am - 8 pm.
Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Alloy Drive to Balmoral Street. Motorists are asked to drive with caution.

Council Ratifies Agreement with CUPE Local 87

November 14, 2016 - City Council tonight ratified a five-year collective agreement with CUPE Local 87.
The agreement covers the period from Jan. 1, 2015 through Dec. 31, 2019 and provides for general annual wage increases of 1.75 per cent in 2015 and 2016, and 1.5 per cent in each of 2017, 2018 and 2019.

November 14, 2016 - The Recreation and Facilities Master Plan, FIT TOGETHER, will be presented to City Council tonight as a first report.

Smoke Alarms Provide Early Warning for Occupants

November 9, 2016 - Firefighters responded to and quickly extinguished a structural fire just after 7 am on Nov. 5 that was burning in an upstairs bedroom on Grenville Avenue.
The early warning provided by working smoke alarms alerted the residents. It has been determined that a candle in the bedroom was the cause of the fire after coming in contact with bedding.
