Limited Edition Fire Safety Hockey Cards Available at Friday's Game

January 5, 2017 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, the Lakehead University Thunderwolves and Tbaytel have partnered to release limited edition cards of this year's varsity hockey team that highlight fire safety messaging.

"Fire and life safety education is one of our top priorities," said Anthony Stokaluk, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Public Education Officer. "These cards give us a unique way to promote our fire safety messages to Thunder Bay's hockey fans."

New Design for Thunder Bay Arts & Heritage Awards Unveiled

January 5, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay announced a new design today for the awards presented to recipients at the annual Thunder Bay Arts & Heritage Awards. Growth, by local artist boy Roland, was selected by a jury to become the new award distributed in all categories at the 2017 and 2018 ceremonies. Holiday Tree Drop-off Sites Open Boxing Day

December 20, 2016 - The City will once again recycle natural trees this holiday season, grinding the trees into wood chips to be added to the compost pile at the City's Solid Waste and Recycling Facility. Compost is given away each spring to beautify residents' lawns and flower gardens.

Municipal Division Employees Give over $213,000 to United Way

December 15, 2016 - Employees of the City of Thunder Bay, Superior North EMS, and Thunder Bay Public Library proudly pledged $213,141.72 to the United Way today following the close of the Municipal Division's 21st Annual United Way Employee Campaign, $16,866.72 over the campaign goal.

At a special wrap-up celebration, cheques where presented to United Way Executive Director Jared Zieroth valued at:

  • Thunder Bay Public Library: $2,673.81
  • Superior North EMS: $34,635.10
  • City of Thunder Bay: $175,832.81
