November 21, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay is seeking proposals for artwork that will be featured at events during the 2017 programming season. The Public Art Program has released two Calls to Artists for "SnowDay 2017 Snow Sculptures" and "Award Design for Thunder Bay Arts & Heritage Awards".

Youth Get an Opportunity to Train with a Pro This Winter

November 21 - Local youth are getting the chance to train alongside a local football hero at clinics in December called "˜Training with a Pro - The Football Edition'. The dry-land clinics are part of a new program being offered, where youth between the ages of 5 and 13 are given the opportunity to train with a local professional football player, all in support of P.R.O. Kids.

New Traffic Signals at Central and Carrick to be activated Friday

November 16, 2016 - New traffic signals at the intersection of Central Avenue and Carrick Street will be activated at approximately 11 am on Friday, Nov. 18.
"An Engineering study which was conducted in 2014, identified that traffic signals were required at this location," said Ryan Love - Traffic Technologist. "They will improve walkability and traffic flow in the area, and reduce vehicle delay."

Section of Central Avenue to Close Nov. 20 for Water Main Work

November 16, 2016 - On Sunday, Nov. 20, Central Avenue between Balmoral Street and Alloy Drive will be closed for water main work at Tungsten Street and Central Avenue. The closure is expected between the hours of 8 am - 8 pm.
Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Alloy Drive to Balmoral Street. Motorists are asked to drive with caution.

Council Ratifies Agreement with CUPE Local 87

November 14, 2016 - City Council tonight ratified a five-year collective agreement with CUPE Local 87.
The agreement covers the period from Jan. 1, 2015 through Dec. 31, 2019 and provides for general annual wage increases of 1.75 per cent in 2015 and 2016, and 1.5 per cent in each of 2017, 2018 and 2019.
