Sister Cities Delegation to Visit Little Canada

July 28, 2016 - A four person delegation from Thunder Bay will be returning to Little Canada, Minnesota this weekend for the Annual Canadian Days celebration.
A Sister City of Thunder Bay since 1977, Little Canada is located north of Minneapolis and has a population of 10,000. The celebration features a Mayor's reception, Canadian themed music, food vendors, sporting events, fireworks and a Canadian Days Parade.

Partial Closure of William and Balmoral Intersection Starts Tuesday

July 25, 2016 - The intersection at William Street and Balmoral Street will be partially closed as of Tuesday, July 26 to facilitate the construction of a new storm sewer.
The closure affects the west side of Balmoral Street, or the side on which the Thunder Bay District Health Unit is located. The east side of the intersection remains open to traffic.
The closure is expected to last until Friday, July 29.

Section of Oliver Road to Close for Sewer and Water Work

July 25, 2016 - A section of Oliver Road between Ray Boulevard and Rupert Street will be closed on Tuesday, July 26 as new sewer and water services are installed.
The closure will be in effect from 6 am to approximately 4:30 pm, or until work is complete.
While the road will be closed to through traffic, local traffic will be permitted. The eastbound sidewalk will also be closed and pedestrians will be required to use the westbound sidewalk.

Memorial Avenue to Close for Overnight Construction

July 21, 2016 - A section of Memorial Avenue between Sixth Avenue and the Harbour Expressway will be closed overnight on Monday, July 25 to accommodate various asphalt repairs.
The closure is scheduled for Monday at 6 pm, weather permitting, and the road is expected to be reopened at 6 am the following day. In the event of inclement weather, the alternate closure date is set for Tuesday, July 26, with road access resuming on Wednesday.

Significant Reductions in Thunder Bay's Crime Statistics

July 21, 2016 - The 2015 Police-reported Crime Statistics were released yesterday by Statistics Canada. The Data for Thunder Bay showed reductions in the Crime Severity Index (CSI), overall crime rate, violent crime rate, property crime rate, and youth crime rate-for both violent and property crime.
