Parking lot at Junot Park temporarily closed

The parking lot at Junot Park will be temporarily closed to the public during working hours to support several infrastructure improvements in the area.

The parking lot will be closed on weekdays between 7am and 7pm as work proceeds. On-street parking is available in the surrounding area.

The parking lot will reopen when the work is complete, expected to be by mid-August. Junot Park remains open to the public during this time.

Widnall Pool closed on July 14

Earlier this evening, lifeguards responded to a medical emergency at Widnall Pool. The patron was safely transported by EMS to the hospital for further care.

Police have attended and released the site as a part of the emergency response, but the pool will remain closed tomorrow.

Portion of Walsh Street to close for hydro maintenance

A portion of Walsh Street will be closed to traffic starting Monday, July 15 due to maintenance being done by Hydro One on electrical towers.

In order to complete this work, Walsh Street will be fully closed to through traffic between James Street and Kingsway starting July 15, and is expected to be completed by July 19.

Drivers should use an alternate route during this time. Please follow posted signs to navigate the area. Driveway access will be available to residents on Walsh Street.

The City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Services and Clean, Green and Beautiful Committee are pleased to announce the launch of the Community Clean-Up Trailer. Today City staff and members of the Committee, along with staff of Lakehead Region Conservation Authority, Thunder Bay Art Gallery and Generator Strategy Advertising used the Trailer to rid an area along the Neebing Floodway of litter.

The City of Thunder Bay is sharing details of construction projects expected to impact drivers, cyclists and pedestrians in the month of July.

The City is investing $42 million in 2024 to fund crucial infrastructure work including road rehabilitation, sidewalk replacement, sewer and watermain repairs and replacements, and bridge and culvert renewal.
