Aysanabee headlining Canada Day on the Waterfront

The City of Thunder Bay is thrilled to announce that 2024 Juno Award winner, Aysanabee, will perform at Canada Day on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on July 1, 2024.

Aysanabee is Oji-Cree and part of the Sucker Clan of Sandy Lake First Nation. He has connections to Thunder Bay and region as he spent his formative years living just north of the city. Mountdale Boat Launch to close for renewal

The Mountdale Boat Launch is scheduled to close for improvements starting Monday, June 3.

The boat launch and the park area will be closed to the public as the work gets underway, with completion expected by September 30, dependent on weather. The City thanks users for their patience during this closure.

The Mission Island Boat Lauch remains available to the public on 107th Avenue on Mission Island.

The City’s Clean, Green & Beautiful (CGB) Committee is encouraging local organizations to apply for funding for emerging projects that beautify the city and enhance civic pride through public art, beautification, heritage and environmental greening initiatives.

Emerging projects are open to local organizations and businesses, city committees, and city departments for grants up to $5000. Larger contributions will be considered based on tangible community benefits and availability of funds....

Wasco Park playground to be closed for replacement

The playground at Wasco Park will be closed for replacement beginning on Wednesday, May 29.

The existing structure has come to the end of its life and is being removed to make room for a new playground, which is designed to be more inclusive and contains accessible components.

Installation of the new playground, along with a new seating area, is expected to be completed in June. During construction, the majority of the park will be closed and the work area defined with construction fencing.
