Treasure Exchange Days coming September 7 & 8

The City’s twice-yearly Treasure Exchange Days event will take place on Sept. 7 & 8. Residents with used items in good condition that they wish to give away may leave them on the curb any time after 5 pm on Friday, Sept. 6, labelled “free.” Residents can then tour their neighbourhoods over the weekend to find treasures.

Valley Street water fill station temporarily closed

The Valley Street water fill station is out of service until further notice due to a technical issue.

The City of Thunder Bay is working to resolve the problem and will issue an update when more information is available on the station’s return to service.

The water fill station on Highway 61 at Mount Forest Boulevard remains available for residential use.

Volunteer Pool to temporarily close due to vandalism

Volunteer Pool Community Centre is temporarily closed today due to an act of vandalism. During the evening (Aug. 28), the glass of a large patio door was broken at the facility, resulting in shattered glass in and around the pool, making it unsafe for use. The pool will be closed today and is expected to reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 4 to allow crews to work on clean-up and repair.

John Street to reopen Wednesday after watermain repair

John Street will reopen to traffic by end of day on Wednesday, August 28 after crews completed work on a watermain repair.

One portion of an eastbound lane on John Street, as well as the John Street entrance to the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot, will remain closed temporarily while the road is prepared for full restoration.

Parking lot access remains available via Memorial Avenue and Queen Street.
