Smarter Transit: City Hall as the South Core Transit Hub

October 29, 2015 – As part of the Transit Master Plan, a route rationalization study was completed in 2012, and confirmed that the South Core area should continue as one of five key transfer hubs across the city.
In keeping with that recommendation and following more than four years of successful operational activity, City Hall remains the primary choice to maintain a major transfer hub. The City is looking to the public for feedback.

May Street Reopens to Traffic

October 28, 2015 – The road reconstruction project on May Street between Dease and Miles Street has been completed, and the road has fully reopened to traffic.
The affected section of May Street has been closed all summer. The only remaining work is the installation and activation of street lighting. This is expected to be completed in a week.
Drivers are asked to use extra caution when driving in the area until the street lighting is operational.

Distribution Changes May Temporarily Affect Water Clarity

October 26, 2015 – The City of Thunder Bay will make changes to the water distribution system in the Oliver Road area beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27 that will result in higher water pressure for residents.
Portions of Oliver Road, Conservation Road, Oxford Street, Central Avenue and Vimy Street will be affected.
During the conversion, residents on the affected streets may notice discoloured water coming from taps. Water pressure, taste or clarity may also be affected for a short period.

Section of James Street Closed Due to Water Main Break

October 21, 2015 - A section of James Street has closed to through traffic while repairs are made to a broken water main.
The break occurred Wednesday afternoon on James between Marquette Street and Donald Street.
James Street between Arthur Street and Victoria Avenue has been closed to all through traffic while repairs take place. The closure is expected to remain in place until the end of the week.
