Chippewa Park Carousel Set to Reopen After Repairs

The historic carousel at Chippewa Park has been repaired after an unfortunate incident last week which saw the carousel damaged from a vehicle that drove into the ride and surrounding fence.

City staff and outside contractors worked to complete the repairs and reassemble the carousel as quickly as possible. After a thorough inspection and rigorous testing, the repair work was approved by engineering authorities. The ride is scheduled to reopen for regular operation on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 1 pm.

Online Citizen Satisfaction Survey Underway in Thunder Bay

The City of Thunder Bay has launched an online citizen satisfaction survey to monitor and understand local priorities and concern on a wide range of City services while assessing the local quality of life. This year the City has partnered with Zencity who will host the survey online for targeted continuous monitoring of residents’ opinions and satisfaction levels.

The City invites residents to share their feedback using online surveys on Canada Day on the Waterfront, which took place July 1, and Teddy Bears Picnic, which took place July 11.

“Participant feedback helps us maintain, modify and improve the events we offer,” said Louisa Costanzo, the City’s Supervisor of Cultural Development & Events.

The two online surveys can be completed at www.thunderbay.ca/GetInvolved and will be available until July 30, 2023.

Muskeg Express Ride at Centennial Park Temporarily Closed

An issue with a new wheel that was recently replaced caused the Muskeg Express train ride at Centennial Park to come off the track. No injuries were reported from the incident.

The issue has been repaired but as is required, the derailment was reported to the Technical Safety and Standards Authority (T.S.S.A) and it is expected their review of the incident will take up to three weeks. The train will remain out of service until the T.S.S.A review is complete.
