Section of 22nd Side Road closed for rail crossing repairs

A section of 22nd Side Road between Rosslyn Road and Broadway Avenue will be closed beginning Tuesday, September 19, to allow CN to perform track repairs in the area.
The work is expected to be completed and the road reopened on September 22.
Motorists are asked to obey any posted signage and drive with caution in the area.

Call for volunteers launched for 2024 Ontario Winter Games

More than 700 volunteers will be required to assist with the upcoming Ontario Winter Games, Ontario’s largest multi-sport event, from February 15 – 23 in and around Thunder Bay.
The Games will take place at multiple sporting venues and include 22 events ranging from five-pin bowling to cross country skiing, from fencing to wushu. The event will feature 2,200 participants (athletes, coaches, and officials), with most athletes’ ages ranging from 12 to 18 years old.

Nominations are officially open for the 13th Annual Mayor’s Community Safety Awards, which recognize Thunder Bay citizens and groups who are working to build a safer, healthier and more equitable community.

City prepares for Strong Mayor Powers

A report will be presented on Monday, Sept. 18 to inform City Council of potential changes coming to the Corporation as a result of the province’s Strong Mayor powers.
Currently, 27 municipalities in Ontario have Strong Mayor powers. This list does not yet include Thunder Bay as it has not been designated.

Prince Arthur's Landing Splash Pad Closed for the Season

The splash pad at Prince Arthur’s Landing is now officially closed for the summer season. The splash pad was originally slated to close on September 17. A decision was made to close earlier than planned after the main filter pump failed. Repairs are estimated to be completed in around 3 weeks.
