Council Composition Review Committee begins its work

The committee examining the composition of Thunder Bay City Council had their inaugural meeting last week, with a focus on public engagement and research of other communities.
The committee has six members, with two former city councillors appointed by committee members as chair and vice-chair. The members include Chair Rebecca Johnson, Vice-Chair Cody Fraser, Riley Burton, Wayne Bahlieda, Heather McLeod and Carlos Santander-Maturana.

City Bike Lanes Closed for 2023-24 Winter Season

In anticipation of the winter season, bike lanes will be “closed” as of Nov. 15.
During this period, riders may continue to use bike lanes and roadways. However, during the winter months, bike lanes will not be cleared of debris and may be used for snow storage as necessary.

Two individuals and four community projects received recognition tonight during the 13th Annual Mayor’s Community Safety Awards, for their outstanding work in the community.

Section of Simpson Street to Close for Infrastructure Repairs

The section of Simpson Street between Finlayson Street and Heron Street will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 7, to allow for infrastructure repairs.
The road will be closed as of 6 am Tuesday. The work is expected to be completed and the road reopened by the end of the day.
Drivers are asked to obey the construction signs, drive with caution, and use alternate routes around the construction zone.
