Nominations are now open for the Citizens of Exceptional Achievement Awards presented by the City of Thunder Bay. Deadline Extended - SnowDay Sculpture Competition Seeks Artist-led Teams

The annual SnowDay Snow Sculpture Competition will take place this year during SnowDay on the Waterfront activities on Family Day, Monday, Feb. 18. Applications to take part in the Snow Sculpture competition are now being accepted. The deadline to submit an application has been extended until Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. Artist-led teams are invited to respond to the open Call to Artists to be considered.

Residents Reminded to Not Place Waste on Snowbanks

The City would like to remind residents not to place waste and recycling bags on snowbanks during collection days.
“Waste on snowbanks poses a danger to both residents and waste collection crews,” said Jason Sherband, Manager – Solid Waste & Recycling Services. “Crews are not permitted to climb snowbanks to retrieve items.”
Place waste and recycling bags at ground level, at the end of your driveway, approximately a metre from the road, where they will be visible to the collection staff.

Proposed 2019 City Budget Released

The proposed 2019 Municipal Budget forms the starting point for City Council’s detailed review and provides an increase in the municipal tax levy after growth of $5.6 million or 2.95%.

Training with a Pro: The Football Edition returns on Saturday, Dec. 22, to the Goal Sports Centre. The program offers a dry-land training clinic, where youth between the ages of 5 and 13 are given the opportunity to train with a local professional football player, all in support of PRO Kids.
