Comprehensive Program and Service Review Begins

In March 2019, City Council approved a review to improve understanding of the programs and services currently provided by the City, and provide information that will allow Council and administration to make informed strategic choices regarding those programs and services.

The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) is pleased to announce the launch of two new funding programs to support tourism industry growth through the CEDC’s share of the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT).

Interactive Storywalk Launched at Vickers Park

Thunder Bay’s first Storywalk, Victor’s Vickers Park Adventure, launched today at Vickers Park. The Storywalk is a story displayed on a series of posts throughout the park to be read as one walks around the park.
The Storywalk was written by Marilyn Grudniski and Julia Crewdson of Little Lions Waldorf and illustrated by Shaun Hedican. Help was received from Generator Insights & Design for the creation of the posts.

Chapples Golf Course Celebrates 70 Years in Our Community

On July 16, 1949, Chapples Golf Course officially opened in the City of Fort William. In recognition of this 70 year milestone, a commemorative ceremony was held at Chapples on Tuesday, July 16, which included a historical unveiling, the installation of a new Clement E. Chapple Pollinator Flower Bed, and a symbolic tee-off.
