Christmas Tree Drop-off Sites Open Boxing Day

The City will once again recycle natural trees this holiday season, grinding the trees into wood chips to be added to the compost pile at the City’s Solid Waste & Recycling Facility. Compost is given away each spring to beautify residents' lawns and flower gardens.

“One of the good things about getting a natural Christmas tree is it’s recyclable,” said Jason Sherband, Manager – Solid Waste & Recycling Services. “The City’s nine tree drop-off sites open on Boxing Day.”

The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) hosted the 17th Annual Home for the Holidays Healthcare Career Fair today at the Victoria Inn.

One Extra Item of Garbage Allowed after New Year’s Day

Due to the increase of waste during the holiday season, the City will allow residents to put out a third item of garbage with no tag on the first collection date after New Year’s Day.

During the Christmas week, residents are reminded the standard bag tag system is still in place for any additional items.

Residents are reminded to still try and reduce waste by using the six R’s:

City Announces Line-up of Winter FunDays Activities

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the activity line-up for Winter FunDays, presented by 99.9 The Bay and Country 105. Winter FunDays start Sunday, Dec. 30, at Prince Arthur’s Landing and run every Sunday until March 17, 2019, from 2 pm to 4 pm unless specified otherwise.
