Scotland’s Breabach Set to Hit the Stage at Live on the Waterfront

The City of Thunder Bay’s Live on the Waterfront summer concert series continues next Wednesday, Aug. 8 with Scotland’s award-winning Celtic act Breabach.

In 2016, Breabach received the Scots Trad Music Awards ‘Folk Band of the Year’ for the second time and ‘Album of the Year’ for their fifth studio album ‘Astar’. A special Celtic Connections show to celebrate the album was held in February in Glasgow’s City Halls and was received with a sellout crowd and a five-star review in the Scotsman.

City of Thunder Bay Announces Movie Nights on the Waterfront Lineup

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the summer lineup for Movie Nights on the Waterfront.

The series, presented by Ontario Power Generation, starts Friday, Aug. 17, and runs Fridays and Saturdays in Marina Park until Sept. 1. Movies begin after sunset when it becomes dark, around 9 pm, with the start time gradually becoming earlier by Sept. 1.

This year’s lineup:

  • Friday, Aug. 17 – The Lego Ninjago Movie
  • Saturday, Aug. 18 – Peter Rabbit
  • Friday, Aug. 24 – Moana
  • Saturday, Aug. 25 – Guardians...

Temporary Vickers Street Road Closure Starts Tomorrow

Vickers Street North will be closed to through traffic, between Cameron and Finlayson streets, starting Tuesday, July 31 at 7 am for sewer and water construction. The closure is expected to last up to four weeks.

Motorists are asked to use alternate routes, follow posted construction signage and to use extra caution when travelling near the construction area.

Shred Kelly to Headline Wednesday’s Live on the Waterfront

The City of Thunder Bay’s Live on the Waterfront hosts its sixth edition of the season on Aug. 1 with headliner Shred Kelly.

Soaked in electric crescendos and folk-tinged, sing-along anthems, Shred Kelly is known for their high-energy live show that ignites dance floors with their alternative folk sound. Over three albums and countless tours, the five British Columbians have developed their signature sound by taking inspiration from the mountains that they hail from and the people who inhabit them....

The City of Thunder Bay, in partnership with Club Culturel Francophone de Thunder Bay, are hosting Machine de Cirque’s Truck Stop at Live on the Waterfront on Saturday, July 28 at 5:30 pm and 9:30 pm.

Machine de Cirque is an organization whose mission is to bring together various actors from the arts and technology world around circus show production projects.
