Dec. 18, 2015 - Garbage and recycling collection dates for all residents and businesses will change for the weeks of December 21 and December 28, as there is no collection on Friday, Dec. 25, 2015 or Friday, Jan. 1, 2016.

Calendar Parking Restrictions to Take Effect

 

December 17, 2015 - Calendar Parking Regulations will go into effect for the 2015/2016 winter season on Friday, Dec. 18.

Corrosion Control Plan Update Presented To Public

December 17, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay is moving into the next phase of implementing its Corrosion Control Plan in January.

An update on the plan - which will use pH adjustment to reduce lead corrosion in drinking water pipes - was presented to residents at a public information session held lastnight at the North End Community Centre on Huron Avenue.

City of the Poppy: Commemorative Initiative Acknowledges Important Role of City in History

December 16, 2015 - Thousands of men and women from Port Arthur, Fort William, and the region served in the armed forces during the First World War. The Poppy was adopted as a national symbol of remembrance in Port Arthur at the Prince Arthur Hotel on July 6, 1921. To commemorate this significant piece of history, Thunder Bay has adopted the title "The City of the Poppy".

Cold Water and Ice Warning

December 16, 2015 - With cold weather now upon us, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is encouraging parents and guardians to speak with their children about the dangers of walking on ice and exposure to ice cold water.

Ice conditions should be considered dangerous at all times, but they are especially dangerous early in the winter season as thick ice has not yet formed. Slippery shorelines and river banks should also be avoided.
