New Traffic Signals at James and Churchill to be activated Friday

October 15, 2015 - Newly rebuilt traffic signals at the intersection of James Street and Churchill Drive will be activated on Friday, Oct. 16.

The signals will be turned on at approximately 12 noon. Motorists travelling in the area are asked to use extra caution while the lights are being activated.

All traffic lanes at the intersection will also be reopened as of Friday morning.

The schedule is subject to change, as various factors - such as weather - can have an impact on project timelines.

Reduced Adoption Fees to Recognize National Feral Cat Day

October 15, 2015 – Feral (or community) cats are homeless, not hopeless. On Oct. 17, from 12 until 4 pm, a celebration will take place at Animal Services in honour of National Feral Cat Day and from now until Oct. 17, cat adoption fees will be reduced. 

The City of Thunder Bay Animal Services and Superior Street Cats are working together to raise awareness about feral cats and promote the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program in Thunder Bay.

Road Work Ahead: Fall 2015

Oct. 15, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay is investing $40 million on road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sewer and watermain repair/replacement, bridge work and streetlight renewal, including $380,000 in the Enhanced Infrastructure Renewal Program Capital Budget in 2015.

Construction projects will continue in October and November and can result in road closures, detours and delays for drivers. Drivers should reduce their speed, be alert, watch for workers and drive with extra care...

October 14, 2015 - A proposed 2016-2018 Tax Supported Budget Directions Report to be presented at the Monday, Oct. 19 Committee of the Whole Meeting, outlines options for Council's consideration heading into the 2016 Budget. Administration recommends City Council approve multiyear targets for the City's tax supported 2016 to 2018 budgets which would result in a 3.2 per cent average estimated municipal tax levy for existing taxpayers, assuming net growth is $2.0 million in 2016 and $1.7 million thereafter....

October 8, 2015 - The City of Thunder Bay Archives is proud to add profiles of six outstanding women to its online exhibit that recognizes women who have contributed to the history of Thunder Bay.

Betty Kennedy, Gertrude Cornish Knight, Charlotte MacGillivray-Amar, Dorothea Mitchell, Judith Mongrain and Truade Wedding, to the online exhibit that was launched the exhibit in 2013, to celebrate significant contributions of women in the city.
