12 Strays of Christmas Pet Adoption Event

November 27, 2015 – The City of Thunder Bay’s Animal Services has launched its 12 Strays of Christmas promotion where all adoption fees will be reduced to promote awareness of animals at its shelter.
From Nov. 28 until Dec 12, you can adopt a cat for $50 and a dog for $100 plus taxes, a savings of over $100. Each day a cat or dog will be featured both online and on Facebook in an effort to help get them adopted.

Jeans & Jewels Christmas Party in Support of the United Way

November 26, 2015 – In support of the United Way Municipal Campaign, employees of the City of Thunder Bay want to encourage the community to attend the second annual Jeans & Jewels Christmas Party.
The event takes place on Friday, Dec. 4 at the Italian Cultural Centre and includes a family-style meal, music, dancing and great prizes. Tickets are $45 with all proceeds going to the United Way.

Owner Ticketed For Smoke Alarm Violation

November 26, 2015 – A Euclid Avenue property owner has been ticketed for failure to maintain a smoke alarm’s power supply. The ticket carries a fine of $360.

Animal Services Launches Spay it Forward Campaign

November 25, 2015 – Animal Services has partnered with Superior Street Cats to launch the new Spay it Forward Campaign that invites citizens to donate toward the spay/neuter of a feral cat.
"Spaying or neutering a feral cat is a humane and effective method of managing feral cat colonies,” said Jody Kondrat, Supervisor, Animal Services. “The primary goal is to reduce both the number of free roaming cats in the community and the number of cats impounded and euthanized each year.”

November 24, 2015 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, Union Gas and the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council have teamed up through Project Zero to launch Thunder Bay Fire Rescue's SAFE program (Smoke/CO Alarms For Everyone).
