Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day

November 10, 2015 - In honour of veterans, Thunder Bay Transit is will be providing free transit service to all veterans and military personnel in uniform and the family members accompanying them on Remembrance Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015.

The free transit will apply to all conventional fixed route service and registrants of Lift+ specialized services. Thunder Bay Transit will observe Remembrance Day with two minutes of silence at

Building Owner Found Guilty For Failing To Comply With An Inspection Order and other Fire Code Charges

October 30, 2015 –The owner of the former Eaton’s building on Park Avenue was found guilty in Provincial Court Wednesday on three charges for failing to comply with an Inspection Order written by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue.  In addition, the owner was found guilty on 5 additional fire code violations.  These resulted in fines totaling $25,000 plus court costs.

The charges relate to a complaint of fire code violations made prior to a 2014 Halloween fundraising event held annually in the basement...

October 30, 2015 – The City of Thunder Bay is embracing and promoting respect. in a brand new way  at City Hall. The Pilot Project includes a new respect. decal above the customer service desk at City Hall as well as new respect. t-shirts for staff to wear.

Brown Bags Only for Fall Leaf & Yard Waste Curbside Collection

October 29, 2015 – Curbside collection of organic leaf and yard waste will take place from Nov. 3-13 on regular recycling days, and the City is reminding residents that only kraft (paper) bags will be accepted.

Effective this fall, plastic bags should no longer be used. There is no bag limit, however bags cannot weigh more than 40 lbs (18 kg).
