Kashechewan Evacuees Preparing to Return Home

May 10, 2016 - Residents of Kashechewan First Nation that were evacuated to Thunder Bay on May 1, due to a threat of flooding in their home community are expected to return home as early as Thursday. The First Nation has rescinded the evacuation order indicating it is now safe for residents to return to the community.

Pumping Station Tests May Cause Discoloured Water

May 10, 2016 - On Wednesday, May 11 Sewer and Water North will conduct tests at the Chamberlain Pumping Station as part of an ongoing upgrade. Beginning at 9am, several distribution valves will be closed, temporarily isolating the Chamberlain Pumping Station from the water distribution system.

May 9, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay today celebrated the dedication of the Harry Kirk Archives & Records Centre on Vickers St in recognition of the long-time civic administrator.

May 6, 2016 - The Thunder Bay and District Entrepreneur Centre marks the two-year anniversary of the official launch of the Ontario government's Starter Company program, which provides training, mentoring, and a potential grant of up to $5,000 for those with a winning business plan. 25 grants have been awarded to young entrepreneurs, who have used the money to purchase inventory, secure a store space, advertise, and help with other start-up costs.

Water Street Improvements Begin Monday

May 6, 2016 - Construction work on Water Street is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 9, from Villa Street south to Cumberland, and is expected to last up to four days.
Improvements include milling and paving as well as manhole, valve and catch basin leveling. The work is expected to be complete within approximately eight days and will result in spot lane closures. The road will be reopened at night throughout the duration of the construction.
