February 25, 2016 - A delegation including Mayor Keith Hobbs, Intergovernmental Affairs Committee Chair and Vice Chair Councillors Joe Virdiramo and Brian McKinnon, along with Councillor Iain Angus and City Manager Norm Gale brought Thunder Bay's key issues to the Ontario Good Roads Association (OGRA)/Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Combined Conference in Toronto on Feb. 21 - 24.

February 16, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay's Parks & Open Spaces Section, in collaboration with FOTENN Planning + Design, hosted an information booth yesterday to kick off a series of community consultations that will support the development of a renewed vision for Chippewa Park.

February 16, 2016 - Starting today, participating restaurants in Thunder Bay's Waterfront District will be offering specially priced Prix Fixe menus for the Northern Delights Culinary Celebration. The event runs from Feb. 16 - 27, and is presented by a collective of downtown north-side restaurants, suppliers, supporting businesses and Tourism Thunder Bay.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Responds to Significant Gas Leak

February 12, 2016 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue (TBFR) is presently on the scene of a significant natural gas leak on St. Paul St. between Red River Road and Van Norman St.
A number of buildings have already been evacuated as the result of natural gas migration into the buildings. City Transit has provided buses for shelter and to support the evacuation effort. The Branch 5 legion has been secured as an evacuation site, if required.

Study to Determine Feasibility of Supervised Injection Services in Thunder Bay

In March 2016, the Ontario HIV Treatment Network, with support from the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy, will begin assessing the feasibility of supervised injection services in Thunder Bay. Supervised injection services are health programs where people inject drugs under safe conditions and can gain access to sterile injecting equipment.
While feasibility work for supervised injection services has been done in Ottawa and Toronto, it hasn't been done in Thunder Bay, so we don't yet know if there is a role...
