City Launches Reminder Service for Water Meter Readings

May 18, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay has launched a new service that reminds residents it is time to submit their water meter reading through email, text, or telephone. The Recollect Water Meter Reading Reminder Service is easy to use, and the reminders are provided at no additional cost to residents.

- 3 am - A failure occurred at the Chamberlain Street Pumping Station. The certified water operator at the Bare Point Water Treatment Plant immediately responded to an alarm at the Station and dispatched additional staff to determine the cause and restore service.
- 3:20 am - The City's Emergency Response Protocol was activated.
- 5:00 am - The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) were notified of the event.

Sewer and Water Work to Close Section of Fort William Road

May 18, 2016 - A section of Fort William Road between Isabel Street and the Harbour Expressway will be closed on Thursday, May 19 to allow for new sewer and water installations.
The closure is expected to last from 8 pm on Thursday until approximately noon on Friday, May 20, or until the work is complete.
Motorists are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage when travelling near the construction area.

New Centennial Park Off-Leash Dog Area Officially Opens

May 17, 2016 - The City of Thunder Bay celebrated the grand opening of the Centennial Park Off-Leash Dog Area today.
Representatives of the City and many canine companions were in attendance to enjoy the new trail and the festivities, which involved celebratory remarks and an official ribbon cutting.

Fire Ban Lifted for the City of Thunder Bay

May 16, 2016 - Please be advised that effective at 5 pm, today all fire permits have been reinstated in the City of Thunder Bay.
The community's cooperation throughout the ban is appreciated. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue will advise if there are any further changes to the status of the permits.
