Residents Safely Evacuated During Group Home Fire

March 7, 2016 - A fire investigation has determined that the quick actions by care providers in a residential group home led to the safe evacuation of six residents in rapidly evolving fire conditions.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be a resident lighting paper on fire.
"They regularly practice their home escape plan, and that training resulted in the safe evacuation of all residents and staff, they should be commended," said Deputy Fire Chief Greg Hankkio.
