Residents Safely Evacuated During Group Home Fire

March 7, 2016 - A fire investigation has determined that the quick actions by care providers in a residential group home led to the safe evacuation of six residents in rapidly evolving fire conditions.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be a resident lighting paper on fire.

"They regularly practice their home escape plan, and that training resulted in the safe evacuation of all residents and staff, they should be commended," said Deputy Fire Chief Greg Hankkio.
