Building Owner Found Guilty For Failing To Comply With An Inspection Order and other Fire Code Charges

October 30, 2015 –The owner of the former Eaton’s building on Park Avenue was found guilty in Provincial Court Wednesday on three charges for failing to comply with an Inspection Order written by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue. In addition, the owner was found guilty on 5 additional fire code violations. These resulted in fines totaling $25,000 plus court costs.

Brown Bags Only for Fall Leaf & Yard Waste Curbside Collection

October 29, 2015 – Curbside collection of organic leaf and yard waste will take place from Nov. 3-13 on regular recycling days, and the City is reminding residents that only kraft (paper) bags will be accepted.
Effective this fall, plastic bags should no longer be used. There is no bag limit, however bags cannot weigh more than 40 lbs (18 kg).

Smarter Transit: City Hall as the South Core Transit Hub

October 29, 2015 – As part of the Transit Master Plan, a route rationalization study was completed in 2012, and confirmed that the South Core area should continue as one of five key transfer hubs across the city.
In keeping with that recommendation and following more than four years of successful operational activity, City Hall remains the primary choice to maintain a major transfer hub. The City is looking to the public for feedback.
