Property Owner Charged With Smoke Alarm and CO Alarm Violations

August 26, 2015 –A Finlayson Street property owner has been ticketed for failing to maintain a smoke alarm and failing to install a Carbon Monoxide alarm as required by the Ontario Fire Code. Each ticket carries a fine of $360.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to the residence in late July for a structural fire. The resulting fire investigation revealed that the home did not have a Carbon Monoxide alarm and an installed smoke alarm was not working.

City Extends Online Comment Period for Waterfront Master Plan

August 18, 2015 - The proposed Waterfront Master Plan Update, presented to City Council in July as a first report, is now available online for an extended period to allow residents more time to provide their comments.

August 17, 2015 - The busy road work season continues around the city, including road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sewer and watermain repair/replacement, bridge work and streetlight renewal.

Water Main Break Affects Cemetery Water Supply

August 10, 2015 - A water main break has affected the water supply to the Mountainview and St. Patrick's cemeteries, both located along Broadway Avenue.

Visitors to the cemeteries are able to get water for flowers from the tap outside the cemetery office, which is located on the north side of Broadway Avenue, at the western edge of the cemetery (the office driveway is just west of cemetery gate three).

Visitors are asked to bring their own water container when using the tap.
