Thunder Bay Delegation Brings Priorities to 2023 Provincial Level

A delegation including Mayor Ken Boshcoff, Councillor Kristen Oliver, Chair – Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, Councillor Shelby Chng, Vice Chair – Intergovernmental Affairs Committee and City Manager Norm Gale attended the 2023 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference in Toronto from January 22 to 24. They brought several community issues and key priorities forward to lobby for action and/or funding.

Dawson Street Closed Between High Street and Algoma Street

To allow necessary sewer repair in the area, a section of Dawson Street between High and Algoma Streets has been closed.
The work is expected to be completed and the road reopened on January 19.
Drivers can detour around the area using Van Norman Street.
Motorists are asked to obey the construction signs, drive with caution in the area and to contact City Dispatch at 625-2195 if they experience any issues.

Proposed 2023 City Budget Released

The proposed 2023 Municipal Budget was released to the public today during a presentation at City Hall. This year’s budget, that forms the starting point for City Council’s detailed review, provides an increase in the municipal tax levy after growth of $11.6 million or 5.6%.
