City of Thunder Bay Beautifies Signal Boxes with Art Wraps

Artwork by six local artists is now helping to beautify twelve intersections across the city. Each artist’s design is displayed in two locations as graphic vinyl wraps on traffic signal boxes located at intersections in high-pedestrian-traffic areas along the City’s image routes. The artists were selected through an open Call to Artists by the City of Thunder Bay’s Public Art Program.

Artists and locations of their artwork include:

Two individuals and four community projects received recognition tonight during the 12th Annual Mayor’s Community Safety Awards for their outstanding work in the community.

Delaney Arena Reopens Tomorrow, Following Repairs

After closing last Thursday due to a failure of the in-slab ice cooling system, Delaney Arena will reopen tomorrow, Nov. 15, following a successful interim repair.

“Without prompt action by Arena staff last week when they detected the problem, more ice time would have been lost,” said City Manager Norm Gale. “I’m pleased, on behalf of all ice-time users, that Delaney Arena will be back to normal so quickly.”

City Bike Lanes to Close for Winter Season

In anticipation of the winter season, the City’s bike lanes will be “closed” from Nov. 15 to April 30. During this period, riders are still permitted to use bike lanes and roadways but must be aware that during the winter months, bike lanes will not be cleared of debris and may be used for snow storage as necessary.
