Reduced load restrictions take effect 2023

Starting today, reduced heavy load restrictions will apply to all streets within the City of Thunder Bay limits with some exempted streets. This process is part of the City’s efforts to maintain roadways during the period of spring thaw, when road damage is most likely to occur.

Mayor Terminates City’s COVID-19 Emergency Declaration

Mayor Ken Boshcoff has issued an official declaration terminating the municipal emergency that began on April 23, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The decision to declare the emergency terminated, in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, was made in consultation with City Manager Norm Gale, members of the City’s Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janet De Mille.

If you live, work or do business in or around the Parkdale area, the City of Thunder Bay wants your input as part of a planning, engineering, and environmental study.
The City has hired Stantec Consulting Ltd. to undertake a Secondary Plan and Master Plan Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for the Parkdale area. Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the City of Thunder Bay beginning this evening and extending into Wednesday. Snow and ice pellet accumulations of 15 to 25 centimetres are expected and rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult.
Be prepared for winter driving conditions:
- Slow down,
- Give other vehicles lots of room,
- Have patience with other drivers, and
- Pay extra attention for pedestrians and cyclists.

Riverdale Road closed to complete Water Work

Riverdale Road will be closed today to allow the completion of Water work in the Mount Forest area. The work is being completed on the water main feeding the areas north of Highway 61, west of Mount Forest Boulevard, as well as west of and including Mountain Rd. While the work is underway, residents in the area may notice low water pressure.
The work is anticipated to be completed and the road reopened by the end of the day.
