One Extra Item of Garbage Allowed after New Year’s Day

Due to the increase of waste during the holiday season, the City will allow residents to put out a third item of garbage with no tag on the first collection date after New Year’s Day.

During the Christmas week, residents are reminded the standard bag tag system is still in place for any additional items.

Residents are reminded to still try and reduce waste by using the six R’s:

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the activity line-up for Winter FunDays, presented by 99.9 The Bay and Country 105. Winter FunDays start Sunday, Dec. 30, at Prince Arthur’s Landing and run every Sunday until March 17, 2019, from 2 pm to 4 pm unless specified otherwise.

In recognition of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, which marks the anniversary of the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre, the Thunder Bay Crime Prevention Council and partners created a short video featuring male student leaders from grade seven to 10 speaking out about gender-based violence. Prince Arthur’s Landing Skating Rink Open for the Season

The waterfront skating rink at Prince Arthur’s Landing is now officially open for the season. Residents and visitors of all ages and abilities are encouraged to come to the waterfront to enjoy the rink and the many other winter activities and amenities available this season.
