Playgrounds

Playgrounds will be running at 6 locations throughout the city, Monday-Friday from July 13th – August 28th (with the exception of some dates) from 9:30-4pm.

NEW! Playgrounds is a registered Program this year. Participants must commit to one full week for registration. Starting on Tuesday, June 23rd – you may register for JULY WEEKS ONLY. August weeks will open for registration on Monday, JULY 20th, 2020.

 Sites include:

  • Oliver Road Community Centre
  • North McIntyre Community Centre*
  • West Thunder Community Centre
  • West Arthur Community Centre
  • Vickers Park (Near Play Equipment)**
  • Volunteer Pool

* North McIntyre will be closed on July 23rd and August 20th.

** In the event of inclement weather, Vickers Park Playgrounds site will close for the day. Please watch our Facebook Page for details. A family member or friend must always be available to pick-up in the event that inclement weather occurs during the day.

Additional Information:

Parent/Guardian Availability: There must be a parent, guardian, or alternate contact available for prompt pick-up of participants at all times during program hours.  

Lunchtime: Lunchtime supervision is limited due to reduced staffing. Lunch is not provided, please come with nut-free lunches.

Closures: All Playgrounds sites will be closed on July 31st, August 3rd, and August 28th.  

Attendance Management: Due to limited availability of spots in the program this summer, all sites will use an attendance management policy for participants scheduled for more than 1 week during the summer. If your child is unable to attend the program for more than 2 days per week (without an extenuating circumstance present), they will be withdrawn from upcoming weeks. Please call the Program Coordinator with any questions or concerns at 625-2350.

Things to know

  • Playgrounds is nut safe – any food sent from home must be nut safe.
  • Children may return home for lunch.
  • Please pack plenty of water, food, athletic footwear and a hat.
  • Ensure your child is wearing sunscreen.
  • Parent/Guardian and/or Alternate Contact MUST be available to promptly pick up participants during program hours as required.
  • If your child has a disability, we welcome them to come with a PSW or support can be provided through Junior Inclusion Services.

 All staff is trained in First Aid and the HIGH FIVE. HIGH FIVE supports the healthy development of children in recreation and sport.
