The Playgrounds Program is a free, inclusive drop-in program for children 5 - 12!

Each day is themed and days are packed with arts, crafts, sports, games, music and drama!

Reading Tents with Frontier College will be rotating through our sites this summer!

2019 Dates, times and closures

  • Program runs July 2, 2019 – August 22, 2019.
  • Sites open at 9:30 am and close at 4 pm.
  • Supervision between 12 noon and 1pm is limited to reduced staff.
  • All sites will be closed July 12, Aug 2, Aug 5 & Aug 23.
  • Locations are subject to change. If changes occur they will be updated here.

2019 Playgrounds Sites

 Site Locations: 5 days a week

Monday-Friday Sites:

  • John Jumbo (Toivo St.)
  • Ogden School  (Ogden St.)
  • Volunteer Pool (Main Hall)
  • Westmount School (Gym)
 Site Locations: 3 days a week

Monday/Wednesday/Friday Sites:

  • South Neebing CC (Main Hall)
  • West Arthur CC (Main Hall)
  • *Vickers Park (Near Equipment)
  • Academy (14 Trillium St.)
  • Fort William Curling Club
  • North End CC (Rink Shack)
  • North McIntyre CC (Rink Shack)
  • Current River Arena (Rink Shack)

*In the event of rain, participants are required to be picked up promptly as this locaiton will close due to weather.

Tuesday/Thursday:
  • Vickers Heights CC (Main Hall)
  • Vale CC (Main Hall)
  • Wayland Park (Rink Shack)
  • West Thunder CC (Rink Shack)
  • *Dease Park
  • County Park (Rink Shack)
  • *River Terrace (Near Equipment)

Things to know

  • No pre-registration is required – sign up at the park!
  • Playgrounds is nut safe – any food sent from home must be nut safe.
  • Children may return home for lunch.
  • Please pack plenty of water, food, athletic footwear and a hat.
  • Ensure your child is wearing sunscreen.
  • Parent/Guardian and/or Alternate Contact MUST be available to promptly pick up participants during program hours as required.
  • If your child has a disability, we welcome them to come with a PSW or support can be provided through Junior Inclusion Services.

 All staff is trained in First Aid and the HIGH FIVE. HIGH FIVE supports the healthy development of children in recreation and sport.
